How much does it cost?

Cost varies by institution. Usually depends on where you live and what college or university you attend. Lab, textbook, and other fees are explained below.

Everyone has a financial aid option. Search for scholarships and apply for Pell Grants and Student Loans. Be sure to explore all of your options.

Tuition

Undergraduate and graduate rates can be found for in-district, out-of-district, out-of-state, and international residents.

Lab Fees

Courses that have a lab component will usually be accompanied with a lab fee typically ranging from $10-$30. There are exceptions, however, depending upon the institution and course. Types of courses that may have higher fees include: nursing, computer, and law courses, etc.

Textbooks

Most classes require textbooks and some may require other materials as well. Pricing varies depending upon course but, on average, a student can expect to spend $120-$150 per 6 credit hours.

Room & Board

Four-year institutions have on-campus resident hall and meal plan charges.

Online & Web-assisted Courses

Some colleges have an extra charge for these classes. Depending upon class, lab kits or other materials may also have to be purchased.

Miscellaneous

Some of these other fees may or may not apply depending upon the college. Application, Activity, Transcript, Health Services, Late Registration, Add/Drop, and Physical Facilities fees.
