What is KC REACHE?
KC REACHE is a consortium among Kansas City Public Television and seven Kansas City area colleges and universities that seeks to meet the distance learning needs of the residents of the greater Kansas City area. The diverse membership of KC REACHE includes institutions that are 2-year and 4-year, public and private, in Kansas and in Missouri. Our members collectively offer more than 700 courses and 40 degree programs online and on television.
The purpose of KC REACHE is to assist Kansas City-area residents in overcoming barriers of distance and time to gain meaningful access to the higher education courses, programs, and services they need to fulfill their lifelong learning goals.
KC REACHE members collaborate in order to benefit from their collective wisdom and experience in designing and offering quality distance education courses and programs. Members pool resources to reduce the costs of marketing and professional development for faculty and staff. KC REACHE provides a "safe zone" for instructors, administrators, and staff to devise innovative solutions to the challenges of developing distance learning programs and services.
Having received a fourth-year extension for a three-year, $578,000 FIPSE (Fund for the Improvement of Post secondary Education) grant from U.S. Department of Education, KC REACHE is operating with a budget surplus.
